Mike Mauno was the Torrance City Council representative on the Re-Use Committee of the Chandler Rock Quarry and Ready-Mix Concrete Plant. It was realized early that the re-use of this industrial property into open space, recreational and single family homes would be extremely complicated if not impossible due to the many property owners and since the properties are in three cities, Torrance, Rolling Hills and Lomita.
Then Councilman Mike Mauno envisioned, and then led the Re-Use committee to a sophisticated and complicated solution that all parties have agreed to. That solution will now benefit the City of Torrance with a $10 Million Dollar payment along with giving Torrance Four Acres of Land to expand Alta Loma Park.
This is an example of city council Experience along with Ingenuity and Creativity that will benefit the people of Torrance for years to come.
